Paul Rust is an American actor, comedian, and writer living in Los Angeles.   Recently he was selected as one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch” in 2008.

Paul regularly performs live sketch, improv, and stand-up comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, where he has written, performed in, and directed numerous shows. Some inclusive of Neil and Paul: Growing Up Is Tough and Fireball Deluxe: Dad quest.
Paul is the co-host of Not Too Shabby, a weekly sketch comedy show at the UCB. Paul is a member of the improv team “Last Day of School” and a sketch team “A Kiss From Daddy.” Other credits from UCB include Comedy Death Ray and MySpace.

Rust is best known at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB) in Los Angeles as a stand-up and sketch comedian. At UCB, he is presently a member of the Daddy and School’s Last Day sketch comedy groups A Kiss. In movies such as Inglourious Basterds, Ass Backward, Freak Dance, Paper Heart, and Semi-Pro, he has appeared. In the summer of 2009, he played his most outstanding part.

For television programs like Human Giant and Moral Orel, Rust has written. Rust appeared in November 2010, produced by and starring Matt Besser, in the Comedy Central sketch comedy series This Show Will Get You High. He and Paul Reubens co-wrote the BigHoliday of Pee-Wee Herman movie Pee-wee, published in 2016.

Rust appears on the Comedy Bang as a regular guest! Bang! Podcast, where he is best known for his “New No-Nos” segment. He wrote Comedy Bang for IFC! Bang! And also worked as a writer and story editor on the revived 2013 Arrested Development for Netflix’s fourth season. Rust starred alongside Gillian Jacobs in the Netflix Love series produced by Judd Apatow (2016-2018).

The Glass Beef band was created in 2006 by Rust and comedian Charlyne Yi. The two appeared in Hockey’s “Song Away” video together. In the comedy rock duo Don’t Stop or We’ll die with fellow comedian Michael Cassady, he’s also the lead singer and bass player. The group also included Harris Wittels on drums until his death.

Paul Rust is the son of Jeanne, a teacher at Le Mars Community High School and Bob Rust who owned Western goods and boot-repair shops. Paul was raised in a Catholic family. His parents are of German descent.
